Zanskar & Ladakh Jeep Tour
Group Size: 5 to 10 in one group, first come first served
Total Distance Covered: 2000- 2200 kms
Day 1:- Chandigarh to Srinagar, 670Kms.
Day 2:- Srinagar to Kargil (200km).
At the start of tour, we will enjoy the beautiful green valley, and cross Jojila Pass (4300m). After reaching Kargil ,we shall cover Dass (world 2nd coldest habitant place) We’ll then descend into Baltistan Valley to the garrison city Kargil, the gateway to Zanskar valley. A hotel at the bazaar (2,600 m) will be our home for the night.
Day 3:- Kargil to Ranggum, (130kms): We drive for a Rangdum Through the beautiful, wild Suru valley – We’ll be leaving paved roads behind and will continue on a dusty track at average speeds of around 20-40 kmph. Ascending to the herdsman’s village of Parkachik, we’ll reach Rangdum.
Day 4:- Rangdum to Padum, (90km): We’ll explore the adventurous track further until we reach Penzi La pass (4,401 m) and visit the tiny Rangdum mountain monastery before descending along a huge glacier at the entrance to Zanskar Valley and Reach Padum valley.
Day 5: We’ll explore Padum, the only small town in Zanskar. Only around 1,000 people live here in the summer. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Karsha monastery, a medieval oasis of peace and an important center of the Buddhist faith. We’ll be spending the night in the best guest house in Zanskar, at an altitude of approx. 3,500m.
Day 6: – Padum (Zanskar Valley) to Parkachik (170km): Our return trip starts with a longer ride. We’ll be crossing Penzi La pass (4,401 m) and spending another night on a meadow near Parkachik Glacier.
Day 7:- Parkachik To Lamayuru, 190km. Descending through Suru Valley to Kargil, we’ll come across our first filling station in 550 km! Crossing the Fatu La pass, we’ll reach the Lamayuru Monastery, at an altitude of around 3,800m.
Day 8:- Lamayuru to Leh, (140km): We’ll have the opportunity to witness the morning meditation in the monastery – an unforgettable experience. Next, a steep descent to the Indus Valley. Our next track starts at the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. The 40 km along the wild Zanskar river to Chilling, a village of coppersmiths. It is one of the most breathtaking riding routes anywhere in the Himalayas! We’ll be reaching Leh late in the afternoon.
Day 9:- Day trip to Khardung La, the world’s highest pass (110km). We’ll be reaching the high point of our tour – literally. 50 km on the road and 2,000m ascent to Khardung La pass, the highest motorable road in the world. There’s nothing else like it! There will be time for relaxation and shopping.
Day 10:- In Leh Post Breakfast we proceed for Indus Valley Monastery tour including Shey, The ancient capital of Ladakh, Thiksey an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village, & Hemis Gompa the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism. Stok Palace & Sindhu Ghat.
Day 11: Leh to Sarchu, (255km): Post breakfast we check out of the guest house and proceed towards Sarchu, enroute stopping at Tanglangla pass, the second highest motorable pass in the world at 5350m. Overnight stopover at Sarchu (4253 m), bordering the states of Himachal Pradesh (Lahaul), Jammu and Kashmir (Ladakh). Upon arrival in Sarchu we check in at our tented campsite for an overnight stay.
Day 12:- Leh to Pangong tso lake (160km): Today, we’re going for serious altitude! It’s time to cross the truly breathtaking 5,360 mt high Chang-La Pass and follow a rough mountain road to the luminous blue-green magic of Pangong Tso lake. We’ll spend the night in a basic camp with a sweeping view across the lake to the Tibetan shore.
Day 13:-Pangong lake to Tso kar lake (210km): Time for some double-pass action! After crossing the Chang-La Pass, we’ll reached Karu there we take Leh- Manali road and start climbing to 2nd highest pass Tanglangla (17,585ft). We’ll hit Dibring camp city and reach Tso-Kar Lake and overnight camp over there.
Day 14:- Tso Kar lake to Jispa (200km). Post breakfast we check out and drive to Jispa on Skyangchu Thang (The biggest and highest Plateau on Earth on, a Stretch of 42 Kms) we reach at tent city Pang then cross Nakeela Pass/Lachangla Passes (16,617 ft). Through 21 Gata Loops we’ll enter the Sarchu plane plateau (4253 m), bordering of the states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. After cross Baralacha Pass (4890 m). We enter Lahaul Valley, and upon arrival in Jispa, we check in at our tented camp site, next to a river, for overnight stay.
Day 15:- Jispa to Manali, (120km). We start our journey from Jispa to Manali and cross Keylong (3350 m), Pass by Koksar, Tandi (Where Chandra River Meets Bhaga River), Cross Rohtang Pass (13050 ft), Evening Tea Break at Marhi, We’ll be reaching Manali – the end of our motorcycle tour – in the late afternoon.
- ALL Nights’ accommodation on twin sharing basis in standard rooms & tents (Patanitop to Manali).
- Meals (Breakfast & Dinner), but Dinner NOT in major towns (Patanitop/Srinagar/Padum/Leh/Manali ) where people prefer to have different platters according to their personal tastes.
- Inner line permits to restricted/protected areas.
