Day 1: Manali to Sarahan, 230 kilometers / 143 miles
Night stay at the top of the hill along with oldest Hindu temple, Sarahan is a beautifully located township amid mountains with Shrikhand Mahadev peak (5,155 meters) looming as a backdrop. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 2: Sarahan to Kalpa, 110 kilometers / 69 miles
Today, after breakfast, you start early to enjoy the ride along the Sutlej River and reached the Reckong Peo before the office closed to apply the ILP (inner line permit). After clearing all paperwork, enjoy the Kinnaur Kailash mountain from hotel rooftop.
Day 3: Kalpa to Tabo, 150 kilometers / 94 miles
After few kilometers of riding, you enter the Spiti region, ride along the grand river and China border, and cross the Nako Lake and the best landscape of Tabo (3,200 meters). Tabo Monastery is an ordinary mud structure but on the inside, it has frescoes which earned Tabo the epithet of “Ajanta of Himalayas”.
Day 4: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar, Komic, Key, and Kibber (the highest village), 130 kilometers / 81 miles
After breakfast, drive to Dhankar monastery then ride to the world’s highest habitant motorable village of Komic (4,587 meters). Then, go to the Key Monastery with rare paintings and scriptures which is the oldest and biggest in Spiti. Go further to Kibber (4,140 meters), one of the highest villages in India. Overnight in the small town of Kaza.
Day 5: Kaza to Sissu, 176 kilometers / 110 miles
After breakfast, drive to Kunzum Pass (4,551 meters) and Chandra Taal or lake of the moon (4,270 meters). The blue-water lake is situated between a low ridge and the main Kunzum Range with an outlet into the Chandra River. After visiting the lake, take an exit on the hard route of Spiti Valley with many water crossing and waterfall view on green high mountains, cross Lahaul and Spiti border, and stay along the big waterfall at a nice guest house.
Day 6: Sissu to Killar (Pangi), 150 kilometers / 94 miles
After breakfast, drive to Killar and on the way, at Tandi fuel pump, you will refill the gas for the next two days. Today, you ride along the Chandrabhaga river cliff until you reach Killar.
Day 7: Killar to Bairagarh via Saach Pass, 70 kilometers / 44 miles
After breakfast, you drive to Saach Pass. It is a hard ride with a beautiful view. This day, the ride is short in kilometer with maximum stop because of a slow road. Today, you stop at a small village guest house.
Day 8: Bairagarh to Khajjiar, 110 kilometers / 69 miles
After breakfast, drive to Mini Switzerland of India with its alpine view lakeside with green land around. You stay overnight at the alpine guest house.
Day 9: Khajjiar to Dharamshala, 120 kilometers / 75 miles
After breakfast, you drive to the city of Dalai Lama at McLeod Ganj and visit his temple and monastery.
Day 10: Dharamshala to Bir Billing (paragliding point), 100 kilometers / 63 miles
Today, you stay at a tea garden resort and enjoy world’s second paragliding point along great para fly. Besides that, on this day, you can choose to fly to Delhi.
Day 11: Dharamshala to Manali, 180 kilometers / 112 miles
Today is the last ride of this Himalayan trip until you reach Manali town.
Day 12: Manali to Kullu-Manali Airport (KUU)
You will be dropped off at the airport and this is your departure day.
