The Drive from Kashmir to Ladakh is a dream come true for many, this tour is made specially for families and covers all major Lakes and Passes of Ladakh and the scenic journey from Jammu to Kashmir & Ladakh. you’ll be hitting altitudes of over 5,000 meters thrice during the tour! The route covers all of the highlights of the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh, as well as the Four most beautiful Himalayan lakes.

Itinerary


Day 1 | Chandigarh to Jammu ( 340km/7 hours )
Meet the team at the pre-decided spot in Chandigarh and start the drive towards Jammu. Day free on arrival in Jammu.
Overnight at Jammu.

Day 2 | Drive from Jammu to Srinagar (249 km / 8 hours)
We start our journey from Jammu to Srinagar. The route takes us through a lot of tunnels en-route to Kashmir valley the longest of them being Qazigund Tunnel at 8.45 Kms. The route from Jammu to Kashmir valley passes through mountainous terrain and flattens out once you reach the valley after Qazigund Tunnel. The drive is very scenic and enjoyable. Evening free in Srinagar.

Day 3 | Srinagar to Kargil ( 202 Kms / 6 Hrs )
Post breakfast we check out and drive to Sonmarg in the mountains. Sonmarg is surrounded by high altitude meadows and oversees Thawajas Glacier. After an quick photo-stop we continue with our drive towards the Zoji La Pass which was the scene for major battles between India and pakistan in 1947. We will also cross Drass village at 3300 meters which has the distention being the coldest inhabited
place in India and temperature usually goes down to -33 and below. Continue with the drive and we visit the Kargil War Memorial on our way to Kargil Town.
Overnight at Kargil.

Day 4 | Kargil to Leh ( 216 Kms / 5 Hrs )
After breakfast drive to Leh, enroute we cross Namika La & Foto La Pass and the Monastery at Lamayuru. Time permitting we can also visit the ancient village of Alchi. Also cross Sangam / Gurudwara Pathar Sahib en-route to Leh.
Overnight at Leh.

Day 5 | In Leh Rest Day
Complete day for rest and Leh local sightseeing, visit Hemis Monastery.
Overnight in Leh.

Day 6 | Drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La ( 150 km/ 5 Hours)
Get an early breakfast and get briefed about the day’s trip to Nubra Valley. Today you will be driving on one of the worlds highest civilian motorable pass, Khardung La, continue with drive and reach the start of Nubra Valley. Shyok river flows through here and you can opt for rafting in river Shyok ( Subjected to the activity being operational ). Continue with drive to Hunder where we stay for the Night and check in at hotel. Later visit Sand dunes at Hunder.

Day 7 | In Nubra valley
Sightseeing with Local Guide, visit Diskit Monastery, later drive to Turtuk (80 Kms / 2 Hrs per way ) the last Indian village in Nubra valley. After sightseeing return back to Hunder for overnight stay.

Day 8 | DRIVE TO PANGONG VIA SHYOK ( 160 Kms / 6 Hrs )
After breakfast, we drive to Pangong Lake which is a salt water lake at 4225 Meters in the higher reached of Ladakh, the lake changes color every few hours and the best time for photography is in Morning & evening when the lake is at its best . The road to Pangong is full of contrasts crossing through narrow valleys, river sides and wide open plains. Reach Pangong in mid day and check into your camps / guest house. Explore the natural beauty of the lake.

water is only available in morning after 0800 Hrs as its Solar power heated )

Day 9 | Pangong to Sakti ( 123 Kms / 4 Hrs )
After breakfast spend some time by the lake, later drive to the small Himalayan
village of Sakti across Chang La Pass. Situated an an altitude of 3800 meters the
small village is an ideal place to sit back and relax or meditate.
Overnight at Sakti.

Day 10 | Sakti to Jispa ( 315 Kms / 9 Hrs )
After breakfast, we drive to Jispa on the Leh – Manali Highway. The route is full of contrasts and high mountain passes. Our first pass in Tangla La Pass after which we reach More Plains which are 70 Kms long and 8 Kms wide at places, situated at an elevation of 4500 meters this is an excellent drive through. After More plains we cross Pang on our way to Lachung La & Nakee La pass to reach Sarchu the border of Ladakh & Himachal. From here we drive up to Baralacha La Pass and then down the valley to Darcha and on to Jispa.

Day 11 | Jispa – Manali ( 92 Kms )
After breakfast we start our journey to Manali, The drive up to Rohtang Pass to
reach Manali which is a very scenic drive and the topography changes suddenly
once you cross Rohtang. After a quick visit drive on to Manali.
Overnight at Hotel.
Note – To Rohtang an online permit is required, in case we are unable to get
the permit the group will drive through the Atal Tunnel to reach Solang and
then continue on with the journey to Manali.

Day 12 | End of Tour
End of tour in Chandigarh.

Breakfast – Our daily breakfast will be at the hotels where we stay.

Lunch – Lunches will be at midway restaurants / picnic lunches ( Lunch in Leh are not included )

Dinner – Our daily dinner will be at the hotels / Camps / Guesthouse where we stay. Dinner in Leh is not included in the package as there are lots of good local restaurants in both cities where you can go out and enjoy a meal.

Food is a very essential part of these trips. We make sure that the meals we offer is method delicious, unless you ask for dull meals. You are also permitted the choice of veggie or non-vegetarian meals. We suggest that you consume only the bottled standard water that we will carry for you.

Can you book a hotel for me?
Yes, sure we can book hotel stay for you for your pre and post tour days.
What is your cancellation policy?
In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/ unavoidable reasons we must be informed in written. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive mail in written and cancellation charges would be as follows:
• Once the booking is confirmed – 25% of the tour/service cost.
• 15 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour/service cost.
• 07 days prior to arrival – 75% of the tour/service cost.
• Less than 72 hours or no show – NO REFUNDS
Can you send us the final itinerary before we book the tour?
Yes we always send the tour program before you book.
Note - as we travel in the Himalayas at time if necessary we have to make changes in the itinerary due to snow fall / road closure or any other natural calamity that is beyond our control.
Is basis first aid available with the team
The accompanying team carries with it basis first aid, Oxygen for emergency use
Why are your tours so expensive?
Travelling in the Himalayas requires as lot of preparation and a lot of specialty equipment, this along with the cost of the highly experienced travelling crew and their vehicles increases the cost of the Expedition in the Himalayas.
