Extreme Himalayan Motorcycle tour

The road to Pir Panjal & Zanskar travels through some of the most difficult terrains in the Himalayas. Be it the climb to Sach pass, crossing the narrow road to Killar or travelling through Zanskar where new roads are being made, this is a drive full of adventure passing through some of the remotest places in India.

Its a route meant for 4×4 vehicles or the hardy highlanders who roam around in their Altos with spare people in car to push it when the going gets tough.

Come join us on this Himalayan adventure and explore the inner Himalayan ranges on a motorcycle.

Itinerary


Day 1 | Chandigarh to Khajjiar  ( 351 Kms / 8 Hrs )
Assemble at predestinated place in Chandigarh and we start our ride towards the small mountain town of Khajjiar in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Evening free on arrival.
Overnight at Khajjiar.

Day 2 | Khajjiar to Sanch Pass and then to Killar ( 178 Kms )
After morning meal our drive starts for climbing  Saach pass, today we fill up the tanks for the next two days are there are no petrol Pumps till Tandi, in between we cross deep forest ,hard rock mountain or on top of saach pass grand view of valley . After saach pass we stop at check post where  Police make video for visitors and vehicle as entry, then we drive down to the small village of Killar.
Overnight at Killar.

Day 3 | Killar to Tandi ( 121 Kms )
The drive today takes through a remote route that is rarely used and drives along the river Chandra-Bhaga crossing small villages. The road is very narrow at points and there is no place for a upcoming vehicle to pass at some points , or most places you drive on edge of 1000m deep river side road. En-route we will visit the Trilokinath temple in Udaipur from where the road widens. on to Tandi.

Day 4 | Tandi to Purne ( 119 Kms )
Post breakfast we check out and drive to Purne, en-route we cross Keylong , Jispa, Darcha, Deepak Tal from where we go up towards Shinkula Pass (     Meters )  and then cross Gombo Rangjon Mountain on our way to Purne.
Overnight at Purne.

Day 5 | Purne to Padum ( 55Kms )
After breakfast we proceed for a half day trek to Phutkal Monastery (It is one of the only Buddhist monasteries in Ladakh that can still be reached only by foot ) Later we drive to Padum.

Day 6 | In Padum
Complete day for rest and checkup of motorcycles, explore local places of interest.

Day 7 | Padum to Lamayuru ( 210Kms / 8Hrs)
After early breakfast we start our drive towards Lamayuru. En-route we cross Zangla, Singe La, Fotoksar Hanupata to reach Lamayuru.

Day 8 | Lamayuru to Dah Hanu ( 74 Kms / 2 Hrs )
After breakfast we visit the Monastery in Lamayuru which is one of the largest in Ladakh, later drive to Dah Hanu( Aryan Village ), legend has it that the villagers are decedents of Alexander clansmen who came to conquer India in 327 BC and stayed back to rule. Spend time with locals
Overnight at Dah.

Day 9 | Dah to Parachik (153 kms / 5Hrs)
After breakfast we start our ride towards Parachik, en-route we cross Batalis , Kargil and suru valley to reach Parakchik.

Day 10 | Parachik to Padum ( 144kms / 7Hrs)
After breakfast we start our drive towards Padum, en-route we cross Rangdum, Pensi La, Stat Tso, Lang Tso to reach Padum
Overnight at Padum.

Day 11 | Padum to Jispa (145 Kms / 6Hrs) .
Post breakfast we check out of the guest house and proceed towards Jispa, en route we again cross Gumbok Rangan mountain & Shinku la Pass.

Day 12 | Jispa to Manali ( 92 Kms / 2 Hrs )
Leisurely drive to Manali, we cross Atal tunnel ( 9 Kms ) to reach Manali. day free for leisure to relax and to spend some time in the local market.
Overnight in Manali.

Day 13 | Manali to Chandigarh ( 308 Kms / 9 Hrs )
Drive to Chandigarh and end of tour.

Weather


If you don’t like the weather in the Himalayas just wait for a few hours and it will change. The Himalayas are so high that they make their own weather, it can be bright and sunny and in a few hours it may get cloudy and cold.

It is very difficult predict the weather so you have to be prepared for it, in day time it can be bright and sunny and as the sun goes down the temperatures plummets in the higher mountains.

So you have to be prepared for days with bright sun shining, sudden guest of strong cold winds and very cold night.

Meals Included in the Tour – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Breakfast – Our daily breakfast will be at the hotels where we stay.

Lunch – Daily lunch will be at small midway joints or it will be an picnic Lunch at some places where our team will cook food for you and serve it hot.

Dinner – Our daily dinner will be at the hotels / Camps / Guesthouse where we stay. Dinner in Manali is not included in the package as there are lots of good local restaurants in both cities where you can go out and enjoy a meal.

Food is a very essential part of these trips. We make sure that the meals we offer is method delicious, unless you ask for dull meals. You are also permitted the choice of veggie or non-vegetarian meals. We suggest that you consume only the bottled standard water that we will carry for you.

Things to carry (Motorcycle)

Do not carry too much – ride lighter. Max 2 bag/total weight 20-30kg.

For  Riding;

1  Riding pant/jeans/cargo pants any of one. ( like ) (for bikers )
2  Riding Jacket / warmer (warm shirt or sweat shirt) / inner warmer. & any good water – wind proof jacket / riding Jacket.( one pant and jacket will be used all the journey ,when you are riding ) ( for Bikers)
3   Good riding shoes any one (If anklet /high top then better)  ( like ) ( for Bikers)
4   Good 2/3 warm and cotton pair of socks.

The things you might need on a trip like this is unlimited. However, the things you will end up using is limited. While packing for the trip use the weight Vs utility ratio to decide whether or not to carry a certain item.

Can you book a hotel for me?
Yes, sure we can book hotel stay for you for your pre and post tour days.
What is your cancellation policy?
In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/ unavoidable reasons we must be informed in written. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive mail in written and cancellation charges would be as follows:
• Once the booking is confirmed – 25% of the tour/service cost.
• 15 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour/service cost.
• 07 days prior to arrival – 75% of the tour/service cost.
• Less than 72 hours or no show – NO REFUNDS
Can you send us the final itinerary before we book the tour?
Yes we always send the tour program before you book.
Note - as we travel in the Himalayas at time if necessary we have to make changes in the itinerary due to snow fall / road closure or any other natural calamity that is beyond our control.
How do we communicate with other team mates when where is no mobile signal en-route
We provide walki-talki sets for communication to all travelling vehicles, so there we can have uninterrupted communication.
Why are your tours so expensive?
Travelling in the Himalayas requires as lot of preparation and a lot of specialty equipment, this along with the cost of the highly experienced travelling crew and their vehicles increases the cost of the Expedition in the Himalayas.
Is basis first aid available with the team
The accompanying team carries with it basis first aid, Oxygen for emergency use
