This trip takes you through the Zanskar Valley via Shinkula Pass / Gombo Ranjan mountain to Ladakh. The road passes through new tracks high mountain passes, tough roads and challenges your limits.

In this trip you’ll be hitting altitudes of over 5,000 meters five times and tackling the three highest passes in the world! The route covers all of the highlights of the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh, as well as the three most beautiful Himalayan lakes in the border region to Tibet – all at altitudes of more than 4,500 meters

Itinerary


Day 1 |  Manali to Jispa ( 92 Kms / 3 Hrs )
We start our journey from Manali to Leh. The route takes a traveler over Rohtang La (la means pass in Tibetan) (altitude 13,051 ft (3,978 m)), a high mountain pass on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. The pass is open from May to November. This pass is an ancient trade route between the folks on either side of Pir Panjal.

At TANDI top up our fuel tanks for next 350 km.

After Rohtang Pass Koksar is the 1st village of Lahaul, followed by Sissu (3100m), where every spring and autumn wild geese and ducks halt here on their way to and from Siberia. Cross the river Chandra Bhaga at Tandi (2573m). Finally, reach Keylong (3359 m) which is the headquarters of the Lahaul region. Rudyard Kipling said of the region that “Surely the God live here this no place for men.”Later continue towards Jispa (3,200 m). The village incorporates a helipad, a post office, and a monastery.

Day 2 | Jispa to Leh ( 335 Kms / 8 Hrs )
Post breakfast we check out and drive to Leh via Tso-Kar. Today we cross Baralacha Pass (4890m), Sarchu (4253 m), the border of the states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Then comes Start with Gata loops (21 loops in total) which end with Nakee la (4740 m). The terrain is very dry after Nakee la with no streams or rivers to sight. Afterward, the road descends into a dry valley and quickly climbs up towards the next pass – Lachung la (5065 m), the second-highest pass on Manali – Leh highway. Continue towards the clear flow of a stream – KanglaJal which you will follow till army camp and parachute tents of Pang (4600 m), continue upwards till you reach the vast ground leading towards the highest pass on this road. Taglang La (5,359 m).

After crossing the pass descend down to Upshi from where the human settlements start again. On arrival in Leh transfer and check in to the Hotel.

Day 3 | Rest Day
Complete day for rest and checkup of jeeps. Leh Local sightseeing.

Day 4| Leh to Pangong Lake  (151 Kms / 5 Hrs )
Today, we’re going for serious altitude! It’s time to cross the truly breathtaking 5,360 mt high Chang-La Pass and follow a rough mountain road to the luminous blue-green magic of Pangong Lake. We’ll spend the night in a basic camps with a sweeping view across the lake to the Tibetan Plateau.

Day 5 | Pangong to Hunder (167 kms / 5 Hrs )
Time for some double-pass action! After crossing the Chang-La Pass, we’ll descend into Shakti Valley. From there we have a steep climb for the recently opened road leading up to Wari-La Pass at 5,300 mt will demand our undivided attention. Cresting the pass, it’s a wild ride down into the vast, arid expanse of Nubra Valley, where we’ll visit the ancient, remote Diskit Monastery. Today’s destination is Hunder, an oasis where we will have dinner and spend the night in the Guest House /camps with its cozy garden.

Day 6 | Nubra (Hunder) to Lamayaru (240 kms / 6 Hrs) The summit!
It’s time for the highest pass of this trip, the Khardungla Pass (18,380 ft!!). After reaching Leh drive to Lanayru overnight, stay at moon land.

Day 7 | Lamayuru to Padum (180 km) .
Post breakfast we check out of the guest house and proceed towards Zanskar valley, Today we explored a new off-road route Via Sir Sir La and Sing La ,Zangla with great views of different languages.. end journey we will reach Padam, the biggest town at Zanskar valley.
Overnight stay at Padum.

Day 8 | Padum to Keylong. (190km)
Today also a very important drive towards Shinkula pass. On the way we explore purne village &Gombo Ranjan mountain. After crossing Shinku la pass we drive till Lahaul town, Keylong.

Day 9 | Keylong to Home/Manali.
It’s just relax days after Meal we start journey towards Manali under Atual tunnel..and reach Manali..After manali everyone is free to stay or drive back home.

Breakfast – Our daily breakfast will be at the hotels where we stay.

Lunch – Daily lunch will be at small midway joints or it will be an picnic Lunch at some places where our team will cook food for you and serve it hot. Lunch in Manali & Leh is not included in the package as there are lots of good local restaurants in both cities where you can go out and enjoy a meal.

Dinner – Our daily dinner will be at the hotels / Camps / Guesthouse where we stay. Dinner in Manali & Leh is not included in the package as there are lots of good local restaurants in both cities where you can go out and enjoy a meal.

Food is a very essential part of these trips. We make sure that the meals we offer is method delicious, unless you ask for dull meals. You are also permitted the choice of veggie or non-vegetarian meals. We suggest that you consume only the bottled standard water that we will carry for you.

Weather


If you don’t like the weather in the Himalayas just wait for a few hours and it will change. The Himalayas are so high that they make their own weather, it can be bright and sunny and in a few hours it may get cloudy and cold.

It is very difficult predict the weather so you have to be prepared for it, in day time it can be bright and sunny and as the sun goes down the temperatures plummets in the higher mountains.

So you have to be prepared for days with bright sun shining, sudden guest of strong cold winds and very cold night.

Why are your tours so expensive?
Travelling in the Himalayas requires as lot of preparation and a lot of specialty equipment, this along with the cost of the highly experienced travelling crew and their vehicles increases the cost of the Expedition in the Himalayas.
Can you book a hotel for me?
Yes, sure we can book hotel stay for you for your pre and post tour days.
What is your cancellation policy?
In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/ unavoidable reasons we must be informed in written. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive mail in written and cancellation charges would be as follows:
• Once the booking is confirmed – 25% of the tour/service cost.
• 15 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour/service cost.
• 07 days prior to arrival – 75% of the tour/service cost.
• Less than 72 hours or no show – NO REFUNDS
Can you send us the final itinerary before we book the tour?
Yes we always send the tour program before you book.
Note - as we travel in the Himalayas at time if necessary we have to make changes in the itinerary due to snow fall / road closure or any other natural calamity that is beyond our control.
How do we communicate with other team mates when where is no mobile signal en-route
We provide walki-talki sets for communication to all travelling vehicles, so there we can have uninterrupted communication.
Is basis first aid available with the team
The accompanying team carries with it basis first aid, Oxygen for emergency use
