Day 1 | Pune
Reach Pune by evening and check in at the hotel that we have booked for you. Evening get to know the team and briefings about the tour ahead.

Day 2 | PUNE → DEVGAD ( 360 Kms / 8-9 Hrs )
Route Note: Descend from the Deccan plateau into the Konkan. Expect increasing rain after Kolhapur / Nipani.
Road Conditions: Good highways till the Ghats, narrower coastal roads later.
What to Watch For:
– Sudden fog in ghat sections
– Slippery laterite roads near the coast

Day 3 | DEVGAD LOCAL ( Local drive / Slow Day )
Local Drive around Devgad
Experiences:
– Coastal fort exploration in rain
– Empty monsoon beaches
– Fishing villages & sea spray
Tip: Best light is early morning when rain eases briefly.
Day 4 | DEVGAD → DANDELI ( 300 Kms / 7-8 Hrs )
Route Note: Coast to forest transition day.
Landscapes change dramatically. Road Conditions: Mix of state highways and forest roads. Caution: Expect fallen branches and standing water.
Overnight: Dandeli
Day 5 | DANDELI→ LOCAL
Drive Style: Short forest drives
Experiences:
– Rain-soaked jungle roads
– Kali river viewpoints
– Syntheri rocks
– Birdlife and dense canopy
Note: River rafting usually suspended in peak monsoon.
Day 6 | DANDELI → GOKARNA (VIA MAGOD & SAHASRALINGA) ( 140 km / 5-6 Hrs )
Route Note: Extremely scenic but slow.
Highlights:
– Waterfalls in full force
– Temple ruins surrounded by river and forest
Caution: Slippery steps and overflowing streams.
Overnight: Gokarna
Day 7 | GOKARNA → JOG FALLS (VIA MURUDESHWAR) ( 120 km / 4-5 Hrs )
Route Note: Coastal stretch followed by ghat climb.
Highlight: Jog Falls at peak discharge.
Tip: Viewpoints may close during extreme rain — follow local advice.
Overnight: Jog Falls area
Day 8 | JOG FALLS → HORNADU. ( 195 km / 6-7 Hrs )
Route Note: Deep Western Ghats driving.
Road Conditions: Narrow roads, dense forest, frequent fog.
Experience: Continuous waterfalls along the road.
Overnight: Hornadu
Day 9 | HORNADU → KUKKE (VIA DHARMASTHALA) ( 150 Kms / 5-6 Hrs )
Route Note: One of the most atmospheric monsoon drives of the trip.
Caution: Landslide-prone stretches; expect delays.
Overnight: Kukke / Dharmasthala
Day 10 | | DHARMASTHALA → KABINI ( 240 Kms / 6-7 Hrs )
Route Note: Gradual descent from Ghats to forest plains.
Road Conditions: Improving roads, occasional wildlife crossings.
Overnight: Kabini
Day 11 | KABINI → KANNUR ( 175 Kms / 5 Hrs )
Route Note: Forest corridors into northern Kerala.
Experience: Dense greenery and narrow village roads.
Overnight: Kannur
Day 12 | KANNUR → LOCAL ( Local Drive )
Experiences:
– Rainy beaches
– Heritage streets
Slow seafood lunches
Day 13 | KANNUR → TOPSLIP ( 320 Kms / 8-9 Hrs )
Route Note: Long cross-state drive skirting the Western Ghats. Forests thin out initially, then return near the Anamalai range.
Road Conditions: Mixed highways and forest roads.
Expect rain-heavy stretches near ghats.
Caution: Start early. Limited facilities near Topslip after sunset.
Overnight: Topslip
Day 14 | TOPSLIP → VALPARAI ( 60 Kms / 3-4 Hrs )
Route Note: One of South India’s most dramatic ghat descents with hairpins, forest views, and mist.
Experience: Dense rainforest, sudden viewpoints, and cloud movement throughout the drive.
Caution: Strict forest timing rules may apply. Night driving not advised.
Overnight: Valparai
Day 15 | VALPARAI → LOCAL
Route Note: Early start recommended for Athirappilly. Expect heavy rain and spray near the falls.
Highlights:
– Athirappilly Falls in peak monsoon volume
– Forested roads and river views
– Tea estate return drive to Valparai
Caution: Slippery paths near waterfalls. Follow local safety advisories.
Overnight: Valparai
Day 16 | END OF TOUR

The Western Ghats in August are lush, scenic, and dramatic. While roads are largely well-paved highways and state roads, occasional rough patches may appear due to monsoon conditions. Any well-maintained SUV or sedan driven responsibly can comfortably complete the journey.
