Overview

Kyrgyzstan Motorcycle Expedition
Difficulty level—Extreme

Kyrgyzstan, the land of celestial mountains, true nomadic lifestyle and  the real spirit of freedom and happiness. It’s a Paradise for travelers looking beyond the horizon of the well-known destinations and only the well travelled visit this country. For those seeking Luxury / Pleasure / Nightlife / Parties and a famous place for a selfie we would suggest you to stay away and instead visit West Europe, Maldives, Thailand, Bali , China or U.S.A for now, as Kyrgyzstan  remains a real paradise for adventurers, explorers and only for the  REALLY WELL TRAVELLED !!!

This is a difficult tour even for experienced riders in off-road. At times even we are not able to visit all places that we want to cover so it is a really adventure tour and only meant for the hard core adventurous riders.

A lot of roads on this tour exist only on maps and there is hardly any tarmac on ground.  For this tour only light bikes are used and there is no support car as they cannot travel off-road with us. It may snow, rain there can be mud, wet surfaces, we may have to use roads at time to get the bikes going this is not a tour for the weak hearted.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Bishkek The Capital
Assistance on arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel, Rest a bit and visit the Osh bazaar in evening.
Overnight at Hotel.

Day 2 | Start from Bishkek – Kegety pass, Tien Shan Mountains
After 50 kilometers of normal tarmac, you will turn towards mountains. You will follow an unused soviet road. The pass is high (3,800 meters) and you will be weak. The other side will be a really risky downhill. On some parts, you will be unable to ride. You will spend all the time in Tien Shan Mountains.

Day 3 | Road to Song Kul
You will have nice gravel roads and beautiful views. It will be an easy day. Song Kul is a mountain lake, over 3,000 meters above sea level. The lake is surrounded by snow peaks and green meadows. This is a paradise for animals and riders. You will ride through Moldo Asuu Pass and there will be a lot of water crossings today.

Day 4 | Song Kul – Tash Rabat
You will face an easy but very scenic road with gravels. It would be done in three hours but you will spend other four to take pictures. In the evening, you will ride the hills around Tash Rabat.

Day 5 | Tash Rabat – Kol Su lake
Ride a short tarmac section and you will be close to At-Bashi. The army will check your permits and you will ride towards Kol Su lake. It will be Planet Way Round’s first trip there, but they know what to expect; a lot of streams, high water, hard terrain, rocks, and adventure. You will have wet boots all the time.

Day 6 | Kol Su lake – Naryn canyon
Return to asphalt and have an easy road to Naryn. You will find civilization, restaurant, and internet. Then, you will have a beautiful road towards Issyk Kul. Bikes are still an attraction for local people.

Day 7 | Naryn canyon – Issyk Kul
Today, you will ride on more than 100-kilometer gravel and rocky roads. There will be a lot of stream crossings but only one will be difficult. You will stop for two hours to take a bath in hot springs. Climb to difficult Tosor pass, almost 4,000 meters. If it will be snowy, you will have a hard ride. Today, some sections are easy.

Day 8 | Issyk Kul – Barskoon – Kara Say (on the road A364)
This day, you will have an easy and fast ride on a gravel motorway leading to a gold mine. Then, ride another 4,000-meter pass. Reach another military checkpoint and difficulties will begin. Nobody crossed this road for many years. Bridges don’t exist but you will try using the ropes and do your best. You will have great views from your tent. If you want to, you can do a swap to have a donkey riding.

Day 9 | Kara Say – Inylchek – Grigorievka (asphalt)
This will be an easy and relaxing day. However, you have to move around the lake to the northern shore. You will have time to swim in Issyk Kul. You will have the travel light.

Day 10 and 11 | Battle in Grigorievka canyon
People started to build this road in Soviet times but never finished. You will try but local people told Planet Way Round that they are mad. It doesn’t matter what will happen, you will go towards Bishkek on the gravel road in the mountains or on the asphalt near the lake. DRZ is a good choice for this trip.

Day 12 | Reach Bishkek
You will be tired but you have to ride to Bishkek. There are two roads, both are tarmac. You will take the little longer one through Kazakhstan.

Day 13 | Departure
On time transfer to airport to board departure flight for home.
